The Aqua look, 2001–2003
Apple showed Aqua at Macworld in January 2000 and shipped it with Mac OS X 10.0 in March 2001. Buttons looked like drops of blue gel, window backgrounds had fine pinstripes, and the red, yellow and green controls became the most copied window chrome of the decade.
The Aqua theme brings that era to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini: pinstriped panels, glossy blue accents, the traffic lights and Lucida Grande-style type.
- Pinstripe background pattern
- Glossy blue gel accent buttons
- Red, yellow and green window controls (decorative)
- Lucida Grande-style UI type with system fallbacks
