The Amber Terminal look, 1980s
Amber monitors used P3 phosphor and were popular through the 1980s, often sold as easier on the eyes than green. Many people who learned to code on them still prefer the warm glow.
Amber Terminal gives ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini that glow: amber monospace text on charcoal, subtle scanlines and a CRT vignette. It is a calmer, warmer alternative to dark mode.
